Whaley makes gubernatorial campaign stop in New Philadelphia

| February 14, 2022

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 14, 2022) – One of the Democratic candidates running for governor in Ohio this year has brought her message to voters in Tuscarawas County.
Former Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley made a campaign stop at the Daily Grind Café in New Philadelphia Saturday.
Whaley says she feels Ohio deserves better.
“For the past three decades, we’ve had the same guys doing the same things, and really that’s been lining their political pockets and self-dealing.”
Whaley says Ohio should be giving more attention to small businesses so they have opportunities to grow and thrive.
“Right now, the state is too interested in the big shiny objects that tend to go to the Columbus-metro region.”
Whaley says she’s running for governor because she wants people’s pay to go up, their bills to go down, and the government to work for them.
“So what we mean by that is making sure we are investing in the new technologies, making sure we are building the wind turbines and solar panels here in Ohio. The battery technology that’s going to run our cars, we need to make sure we get those jobs here in Ohio.”
Whaley is facing former Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley in the May primary.
