WJER’s Bill Hammerstrom wins 1st Place for “Best Spot News Coverage”
WJER News and WJER Sports Reporter Bill Hammerstrom was too humble to tell you about it on the air but he won a statewide award for his coverage of the night Dover Mayor Rick Homrighausen locked himself in city hall after hours. He was awarded 1st Place in the category “Best Spot News Coverage” in the 2021 Ohio APME Broadcast Contest!! It’s not the first journalism award for Bill, whose extensive career includes time as a sports reporter, newspaper editor and magazine publication manager, but will surely be the first of many for him here at WJER Radio!
