Work to begin soon on Newcomerstown’s future headquarters

NEWCOMERSTOWN (WJER) (May 6, 2022) – Officials are moving forward with a plan to turn a former pharmacy into a more accessible village headquarters.

Mayor Pat Cadle says renovations to the building at 308 College Street will be starting in the next couple of weeks.

“They said mid to late September was their goal to have it completed, so at that point then we can have a pubic open house to let the community come in to see it.”

The village paid $310,000 for the property and is spending over $447,000 to renovate the building (which Cadle says is getting interior walls, windows, new ductwork and plumbing.)

“That is building the inside offices. It’s adding plumbing, electric, the heading and cooling ducts because all new duct work has to be put in. It’s knocking out a few windows for us so we can see what’s going on outside as well as a new top and new sign.”

Cadle says the pharmacy building is about 6,000 square feet, all on one floor. The village’s current headquarters is above the police station in a building without an elevator.
