NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Feb. 23, 2024) – The organization formerly known as Community Hospice has its rigatoni dinner fundraiser this weekend.

Volunteers will be at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School on Saturday from 4 to 7 pm serving up pasta dinners by donation to support patient care through the organization now called Ohio’s Hospice. Fundraising and Events Coordinator Mona Sayre says it’s the 32nd year for the event that’s again being headed up by Cyl Krocker.

“I think the big thing that has kept it going is not only the amazing work of volunteers like Cyl and many others but also this incredible community that we live in. When we talk about hospice and supporting non-profit patient care, this community steps up in a big way and they always have.”

While the name is different, sayre says the organization’s mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients regardless of their ability to pay remains unchanged.

“Hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance. There are folks who have exhausted all of those means, and there are some who do not have those means. These moneys go for that. There are also certain things not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance like bereavement services. These moneys go to fund that as well.”

Rigatoni dinners will be available for dine-in and carryout and come with Krocker’s signature meatballs, Italian sausage, a salad, beverage, and dessert. The suggested donation is $10 per adult meal and $5 for kids ages 6 to 10.
