Ohio State Highway Patrol ready for holiday travelers
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER ) (Dec. 23, 2025) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is telling drivers to expect to see more troopers out on the roads for this holiday travel period to close out 2025.
New Philadelphia Post Commander Lt. Johnnie Maier says troopers will be watching for drivers who are speeding, not obeying stop signs or traffic signals, and making unsafe lane changes.
Maier reminds drivers about Ohio’s phones down law, which makes it illegal in most cases to use or hold a cell phone behind the wheel.
Maier asks drivers to be patient, allow plenty of time to get to where you’re going, and to slow down.
