Uhrichsville Pursues Additional Funding for Major Trenton Avenue Rehabilitation
UHRICHSVILLE — City officials are working to secure the final portion of funding needed for a major road rehabilitation project along Trenton Avenue and Jaycee Drive.
Mayor Jim Zucal recently updated city council on his meeting with the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA), noting that Uhrichsville has already obtained $1.5 million in ODOT funding for the effort.
The city, however, still requires an additional $244,000 to fully fund the project. Zucal said he has sent a request to the Tuscarawas County Transportation Improvement District and the county’s Economic Development Team, which collectively have $500,000 available this year. He believes Uhrichsville could receive $150,000 to $200,000, though the city may remain about $80,000 short.
If the remaining funds are secured, construction could begin as early as 2028, bringing long‑awaited full‑depth repairs to the stretch leading to Novelis—an area Zucal described as having significant road issues. The mayor also noted that this project funding would be in addition to investments already awarded for the widening and paving of Wardell Street.
