Free colon cancer screenings offered in Tuscarawas County in March
DOVER, Ohio (WJER) (March 11, 2026) — The Tuscarawas County Health Department will offer free colon cancer blood test screenings throughout March in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The screenings are available by appointment, with limited walk‑in times also offered. Health Promotion Director Jennifer Demuth said grant funding from Guardant Health is making the no‑cost testing possible for adults 45 and older who do not have symptoms of colorectal cancer and do not have a family history of the disease in a parent or sibling.
Participants must bring a valid ID to verify age. The screenings use the FDA‑approved “Shield by Guardant” colorectal cancer blood test.
Colorectal cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Tuscarawas County.
Appointments can be made by calling the health department at 330‑343‑5555.
Screenings will take place at the Tuscarawas County Health Department on the following dates:
- Mondays, March 16 and March 23, from 9 a.m. to noon
- Wednesdays, March 11, March 18 and March 25, from 2 to 6 p.m.
