Dozens of high wind‑related incidents reported across Tuscarawas County
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (March 13, 2026) – The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Tuscarawas County, remaining in effect until midnight. Forecasters say west winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph, are expected to continue into the evening.
According to the Weather Service, the strongest gusts may cause trees and power lines to come down, leading to widespread power outages. Drivers—especially those operating high‑profile vehicles—are urged to use caution, as travel may become difficult in open or exposed areas.
It has already been an extremely active afternoon for first responders across the county, with crews dispatched to numerous reports of downed wires, brush fires, and pole fires as the winds intensified.
