Truck Driver Cited After Load Spills on I-77
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Aug. 20, 2026) – A truck driver was cited after losing a large roll-off container on I-77 North in New Philadelphia late Wednesday morning, backing up traffic for about two hours.
The State Highway Patrol says the truck began having problems around 10:30 a.m., about a third of a mile north of the state Route 39/U.S. 250 exit, then swerved and sideswiped another commercial vehicle before the container fell off.
Lt. Bryan Sponaugle says only the two vehicles were damaged, no injuries were reported, and the driver was cited for failure to control.
