Bolivar man dies in Goshen Township crash

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Jan 19th, 2022) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a Bolivar man was killed in a single-vehicle accident shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday just north of New Philadelphia.
The driver and victim, 79-year-old Virgil A. Ravenscroft, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say he was thrown from his northbound van as it went off the road in the 1800 block of Seven Mile Drive and struck a guardrail. Ravenscroft was not wearing a seatbelt.
Sgt. Leroy Bethel says he is unsure if road conditions were a factor at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
