Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Ryan visits New Philadelphia
NEW PHILADELPHIA – (WJER) (Jan. 14th, 2022) – A Democratic congressman and U.S. Senate candidate is delivering his campaign message directly to voters in Tuscarawas County.
13th District Representative Tim Ryan of the Youngstown area visited the Daily Grind Café in New Philadelphia Friday. He answered questions about healthcare and discussed priorities such as investing in local communities, calling out China, and building the economy around the middle class.
“The Senate right now is where the action is as far as getting stuff done. I think you would see with me being in there an agenda that says, look, we’ve rebuilt Iraq, we’ve rebuilt Afghanistan, it’s time to rebuild the United States of America.”
Ryan told supporters he doesn’t care about the political climate or the results of the 2020 election in the state.
“People in Ohio are very pragmatic; they want problem solvers. They’re great people who want to solve the issues of the day and they want someone independent who is going to stand up to their own party.”
“I’ve run against Nancy Pelosi, I’ve got in fights with Bernie Sanders, I’ve taken on Republicans.”
Ryan is one of several candidates running in the May primaries for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman.

I was surprised that candidate Ryan noted that “we’ve rebuilt Afghanistan”. Not something that America can point to as an accomplishment.
