Dover man killed in semi crash in Holmes County

| September 21, 2022

PAINT TOWNSHIP (WJER) (Sept. 21, 2022)  – Holmes County Sheriff’s officials say it appears a Dover man was killed when an SUV pulled out from a stop sign and into the path of his semi around 10:50 am Monday.

Deputies say 71-year-old Richard Hunsinger’s semi was southwest bound on US 62 when it struck the car coming from County Road 187, causing the semi to continue a short distance before rolling onto its side down a small embankment.

Hunsinger died at the scene.

The SUV’s driver, a 60-year-old Dundee woman, and her 33-year-old passenger were flown by helicopter to an Akron hospital with serious injuries.

The crash, which had US 62 closed for several hours between Wilmot and Winesburg, remains under investigation.
