NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Dec. 12, 2022) – A Dover woman is facing up to three years in prison after admitting in court to stealing more than $100,000 dollars from Strasburg’s St. John’s church.

Jodi Davis pleaded guilty to a bill of information charging her with a single count of aggravated theft when she appeared before Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Elizabeth Thomakos this morning.

Davis was accused of pocketing between $100,000 and $200,000 from the church between 2009 and last March while she was the office manager there. The charge she pleaded guilty to carries a possible sentence of 9 to 36 months in prison, although Thomakos could also reserve that time and place her on probation.

Davis is scheduled to return to court to be punished for the crime on January 30th. The prosecution will be asking Thomakos to impose a recommended sentence that wasn’t disclosed during this morning’s hearing.
