Indian Valley basketball to honor the GOAT – Hall of Famer Bob Huggins

| December 22, 2022

GNADENHUTTEN (WJER) (December 22, 2022) – Indian Valley High School plans to honor the GOAT between Friday’s JV and varsity boys’ basketball game.

Braves Boys’ Coach Tyrone Miller says West Virginia University Men’s Basketball Coach Bob Huggins plans to be at the game and deserves recognition as the Greatest Of All Time when it comes to Tuscarawas County basketball.

Huggins has more than 900 wins as a college coach, and that’s why he was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this year. But before all those victories, he was a legend at Indian Valley South High School, winning Ohio’s player of the year award and a state title with his father Charlie’s undefeated 1972 team.

Miller hopes his players can gain some knowledge and inspiration from Huggins, whose style of basketball that he learned from his father is still practiced in this area.

Miller says if the weather doesn’t cooperative, Huggins has agreed to come back at another time.

Miller says it might be the first time Huggins has been to Indian Valley High School – he went to South, which is now Port Washington Elementary – so it will be special whenever Huggins comes back.
