New Phila teen taken into custody for allegedly posting school threats

| March 3, 2025

NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (Mar. 3, 2025) – Police say a 15-year-old boy was taken into custody at his home without incident after allegedly posting a threat of school violence to a private story on his social media account.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Statewide Terrorism Analysis and Crime Center on Sunday morning shortly after 4:30 a.m. notified New Philadelphia police about the possible school safety threat for today.

Police announced later Sunday morning that the student – who attends New Philadelphia High School – had been taken into custody.

A report is being submitted to the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s Office for possible charges.
