New Year’s holiday relatively quiet for local law enforcement
NEW PHILADELPHIA – Area law enforcement enjoyed a relatively uneventful New Year’s holiday.
State Highway Patrol Sgt. Clinton Armstrong says the New Philadelphia Post had no OVI arrests in Tuscarawas or Carroll counties. He thanked the public for finding designated drivers and obeying traffic laws.
The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office reported one OVI arrest just 10 minutes into the new year. Deputies arrested a 23-year-old man from Massillon after he struck a parked vehicle on North High Street in Mineral City. He faces alcohol, traffic and weapon charges. The Sheriff’s report says a female passenger was taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
New Philadelphia Police reported one OVI 26 minutes into the new year. A 51-year-old New Philadelphia woman has been charged with OVI for the fourth time.
Dover police reported no OVI arrests over the New Year holiday. Their police reports included a couple of noise complaints regarding loud music and a complaint about some kids shooting off Coke bottles with Mentos around 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve.
