TUSC BDD award recipients make the community Better Together

NEW PHILADELPHIA – TUSC BDD on Thursday presented its Better Together Awards at the Community Partners Pancake Breakfast at Tuscora Park. Claymont School Nurse Kortnee Cameron is the recipient of the Better Together Award, which honors the dedication of a standout direct support professional. Claymont intervention specialist Heather O’Connor became emotional as she explained why she nominated her colleague, highlighting Cameron’s decision to become a foster parent of a student with medical and cognitive needs.
James Jelinek is the recipient of the Diamond Award, which celebrates an individual with developmental disabilities who demonstrate fearless bravery achieving their dreams and helping others do the same. Kerri Silverthorn of Tusc BDD read his nomination.
The Ripple Award Winner is Angela Simmerman of Be Well Pediatrics in Uhrichsville. The award recognizes a business for its support of individuals with disabilities. The Standing Ovation Award that recognizes tirelessly supportive family members went to Cheryl and Patrick Snyder, the parents of Carol Snyder.
