Tuscarawas County YMCA’s new playground to open Tuesday
DOVER – (WJER) (June 5, 2023) – A new playground is opening this week at the Tuscarawas County YMCA, built from about $175,000 in donations.
YMCA CEO Meagan Shaheen is inviting the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. to debut the project spearheaded by the Dover-New Philadelphia Kiwanis Club.
She says most of the time, the playground will be open to anyone as long as the YMCA child care programs aren’t using it.
Brenda Cameron with the Kiwanis Club says the neighborhood needed a playground, and the club needed a way to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
She says the Kiwanis Club has been collecting donations for about a year and a half, including a recent $11,500 contribution from the Dover Exchange Club.
