Wanted felon stops for snack in Dover, gets taken into custody
DOVER (November 21, 2024) – A police officer took a wanted felon into custody while on his lunch break at Circle K this past Monday.
Dover police say they had been on the lookout for 39-year-old David Rogers, who has previous convictions for drug possession and trafficking and was wanted for trafficking in cocaine.
While stopping at Circle K for lunch, an officer spotted Rogers, also known as “New York,” in his vehicle. The officer approached the car and was able to catch Rogers by surprise. He took him into custody without any fight.
Several units responded, creating a noticeable scene during a busy lunch hour.
Police did not find any drugs or weapons on Rogers at the time, just his shopping purchases – strawberry Mentos and a sweet tea.
Police described Rogers as a dangerous individual and were happy to have him off the streets. They say Rogers will stay in the Tuscarawas County Jail without bail throughout his indictment process.
He is scheduled for a video arraignment on Tuesday with Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court Judge Mike Ernest.
