Work to mend massive sinkhole continues
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 1, 2022) – Workers have been out all day trying to repair a massive sinkhole along Second Street NE.
The hole appeared late yesterday afternoon at the Ashwood Lane intersection. A passerby called police around 2:45 to report a depressed area in the road there that caved in after officers arrived. We’re waiting to hear back from Service Director Ron McAbier on what might have caused the sinkage.
The block between East High and Fair Avenue remains closed while the hole is being repaired.
