Waynesburg man killed in three-vehicle crash in Carroll County
NEW PHILADELPHIA (WJER) (June 25, 2026) – State troopers say a Waynesburg man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on State Route 43 in Carroll County’s Brown Township, near Malvern.
Seventy-year-old Lee Meadows was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash, which happened just before 5 p.m.
Authorities say a westbound Volkswagen Golf tried to pass a Ram pickup and hit Meadows’ eastbound Subaru Outback head-on. The Ram was then struck by both vehicles and went off the road, while the Subaru overturned.
A passenger in Meadows’ vehicle, Emily Meadows of Malvern, was taken to the hospital with injuries. The Ram driver, 34-year-old Cole Kneeper of Malvern, suffered minor injuries. The Volkswagen driver, 31-year-old Ronald Romano III, was ejected and seriously injured. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Investigators believe speed may have been a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
