Rockets teams finish busy weekend undefeated

In a weekend packed full of basketball, both the Rockets Maroon and Silver teams finished undefeated.

On Friday night, the Rockets Maroon team defeated the Carroll County Cougars 39-16. Matthew Toole Jr. scored 8 points to lead all scorers. Allison Halsey and Kadyn Cook-Linamen both added 6 for the winners. Cook-Linamen added 14 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block.  Miranda Milburn added 10 rebounds and an assist.

On Saturday, the Maroon team continued their winning streak. They won their first game against the Columbiana Comets 45-26.  Allison Halsey led all scorers with 10 points. She also had 12 rebounds and 3 steals. Rachael Russell added 8 points. Kadyn Cook-Linamen had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks in the win.
In their second game, the Rockets Maroon defeated the Medina Thunder 35 to 30. Kadyn Cook-Linamen scored 12, while Allison Halsey had 8. Cook-Linamen added 14 rebounds, 7 blocks, and 2 steals in the victory.  Halsey had 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 1 block.
The Rockets Silver team was also in action against two tough teams from Fayette and Medina. In their first game, they defeated Fayette Dragons by a score of 56 to 34. Matthew Medley led all scorers with 22 points. Deric Johnson and Zach Dryden each added 11 points for the winners. Chris Wernert had 11 rebounds and 2 blocks, while Medley, Johnson, and Alex Adkins all had 8.  Medley also had 9 assists and 4 steals. In their second game against the Medina Flash, by a score of 42 to 28. Medley led all scorers with 9 points. Chris Wernert had 8, Deric Johnson had 7, and Chris Daniska had 6.  Medley and Johnson both had 12 rebounds, while Zach Dryden added 8. Medley also had 8 assists and 2 steals. Chris Wernert added 6 rebounds and a block. Johnson and Alex Adkins both had 4 steals, while Johnson added 4 blocks and 5 assists.
Both teams will compete at the Special Olympics Ohio Northeast Regional Basketball Tournament Jan. 28 at The College of Wooster.
